Aged Care Task Force
"A new Aged Care Taskforce will be established to review aged care funding arrangements and develop options to make the system fair and equitable for all Australians. The Taskforce will also inform the final design of the Support at Home program which will be postponed to commence on 1 July 2025, in response to feedback and to allow time to further refine the design. A July 2025 start date, will also ensure aged care service providers are well prepared for the change, avoiding disruptions to continuity of care for older people. Existing grant arrangements for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme will be extended for a further 12 months to 30 June 2025." May 2023

Yes although there are older people represented on this taskforce, are they aged care "consumers"? Do they possess the actual lived experience of being recipients of aged care services to support them as needed to live with a modicum of comfort and dignity, whether in an ACF or at home? Again " Nothing about us without us" are just words being ignored by those who think they know best about how we can/wish to live our own lives! M.O.
Some days I just say to myself, I'm too frustrated and tired to fight on. THEN, I say to myself I must, if not for me, then for the next generation of us older persons. There is no one on this task force who "walks in our shoes". They are not listening to us yet again. C.A.
I have asked Anika Wells on her FB page how consumers will be Consulted/have input. Nothing back so far. Pointless writing to her office. It seems highly unreasonable that Providers get a spot on the Taskforce but not consumers. S.D.
